EMAT 676 Adolescent Development & Learning (May substitute EDUC 625 Culturally and Educationally Responsive Pedagogy if transferring in EDUC 356 Psychology and Development of the Adolescent Learner)

Fall (14 hours)  

EMAT 608 Practicum OR EMAT 609 Mentored Practicum (partner district year-long high school placement)
EMAT 678 Curriculum, Instruction, & Planning for Secondary Education
EMAT 679 Educational Assessment
EMAT 687 Disciplinary Literacy for Secondary Education

One of the following methods courses including: 

EMAT 645 Teaching English
EMAT 666 Teaching Mathematics in Middle Grades Education & Secondary Education
EMAT 672 Teaching Science in Middle Grades Education & Secondary Education
EMAT 682 Teaching Social Studies in Middle Grades Education & Secondary Education

Students must complete the above courses with a B or better before the spring semester.

Spring (9 hours)  
EMAT 611 Student Teaching OR EMAT 612 Internship (partner district year-long high school placement)

TOTAL:  36 hours
