Mercer’s education specialist degree reflects the latest standards
The Ed.S. in Educational Leadership – Tier II is aligned with the latest national standards in educational leadership as established by the Educational Leadership Constituent Council (ELCC) and in accordance with the standards established by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC). This degree represents Tier Two of the Educational Leadership structure in Georgia, and those holding this level of certification are eligible for any leadership position at the building or district level. The program is also aligned to the Leader Keys Effectiveness System and the Georgia Leadership Standard Assessment.
Your P–12 Tier II education specialist degree turns practice into purpose
The specialist degree in educational leadership program includes 750 clock hours of rigorous, performance-based clinical field experiences that provide significant opportunities for you to synthesize, practice, develop, and apply your knowledge, skills, and disposition.
Upon completing Mercer’s education specialist degree program and obtaining passing scores on the Georgia Assessments for the Certification of Educators (GACE) content assessment, those holding Level 6 certification are eligible for all leadership positions at the building and district levels.

The Ed.S. in Educational Leadership with Tier II certification aims to further shape educational leaders.
