Cherie Goldman is the 2022 Georgia Teacher of the Year. In her thirteenth year of teaching, she serves as a teacher of English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) at Hesse K-8 School in Savannah where she was selected in 2021 as the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System Teacher of the Year. At Hesse, Cherie serves on the Leadership Team and the Professional Development Team and chairs the School-wide Writing Team. Additionally, she is the ESOL Team Lead and the Site-based Induction Specialist. Beyond the scope of her school, Cherie is a member of the Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools Literacy Taskforce and on the Executive Committee for the Georgia Association of Teacher Educators
Cherie holds a bachelor’s degree in Japanese and a minor in teaching from Georgetown University, a master’s degree in East Asian Studies from Stanford University, and a master’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Armstrong Atlantic State University. She also holds a specialist degree in Teacher Leadership from Mercer University along with Gifted, ESOL, and Coaching Endorsements. Before her career in teaching, Mrs. Goldman worked in advertising for Saatchi & Saatchi and DDB Worldwide.
