Add to your toolkit as a current educator
Endorsements are training for certified teachers who want to add expertise in specific areas. Students who hold a bachelor’s degree or higher and a Level 4 or higher teaching certificate may apply for an endorsement program. Endorsement courses are completed fully online, and candidates will be required to complete a field-based component. Please note: Some endorsement courses may not be offered unless there is sufficient enrollment in them. Please contact your academic advisor for more information.
An endorsement in Autism is available to College of Education students who hold a valid certificate in a Teaching or Service field. Successful completion of the three course sequence (no grade below B) will lead to eligibility for an in-field Special Education Autism Endorsement. This endorsement will provide the certified teacher with knowledge and competencies to work with students on the autism spectrum.

Admission Requirements
Applicants to the Autism Endorsement program may choose to enter the program as a non-degree, post-baccalaureate student, or they may choose to incorporate the endorsement classes within a graduate degree program–either in the M.Ed. Elementary Education, M.Ed. Middle Grades Education, M.Ed. Secondary Education, or Ed.S. The Accomplished Teacher. Enrollment in the M.Ed. or Ed.S. programs requires applicants to hold or be eligible for an induction level certificate or higher in an appropriate field (such as Elementary Education, Elementary/Special Education, or Birth-Kindergarten).

The Coaching endorsement is available to certified educators who hold a valid Level 4 or higher renewable certificate. Educators with leadership, life, or service certificates must have held a professional teaching certificate. Successful completion of the two-course sequence with a GPA of at least 3.0 with no grade below B and all portfolio requirements will lead to eligibility for an in-field Coaching Endorsement. This endorsement will provide the certified teacher with knowledge to utilize performance assessment data to guide, mentor, and lead a variety of teachers and educators, including individuals completing student-teaching requirements, new teachers, classroom teachers, and individuals seeking educational leadership positions.

Admission Requirements
Applicants to the Coaching Endorsement program may choose to enter the program as a non-degree, post-baccalaureate student, or incorporate the endorsement classes within an appropriate graduate degree program. As part of the Ed.S. in Teacher Leadership program, students will complete the necessary requirements to earn an in-field coaching endorsement. Enrollment in the Ed.S. in Teacher Leadership program requires applicants to hold a valid Level 5 or higher certificate in an appropriate teaching, leadership, or service field.

The Tift College of Education offers an endorsement in Computer Science for teachers who have a valid Level 4 or higher renewable professional teaching certificate in any field. An individual with the Computer Science Teaching Endorsement is considered infield, and able to provide direct instruction to students in grades P-12.
Successful completion of the three-course sequence will lead to eligibility for a Computer Science Endorsement.

The Dyslexia Endorsement will provide strengthened and enhanced competency for recognizing the characteristics of dyslexia and the ability to support students with dyslexia in the field and at the grade levels of their base certificate fields. This endorsement is for teachers who hold a Level 4 or higher renewable professional certificate in any teaching, service or leadership field.
Successful completion of the two-course EDYS sequence (plus one pre-requisite EDUC course) will lead to eligibility for the Dyslexia Endorsement.

The K-5 Elementary Math Endorsement is available to certified teachers who hold a valid Level 4 teaching certificate and have a minimum of one year of certified teaching experience. Applicants to the K-5 Math Endorsement program may choose to enter the program as a non-degree, post-baccalaureate student or they may choose to incorporate the endorsement classes within a graduate degree program–the M.Ed. in Elementary Education or the Ed.S. The Accomplished Teacher, Elementary Education.
The three-course fully online endorsement sequence prepares certified teachers to hold the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) endorsement. As of Fall 2021, the state provides a $1,000 salary incentive for teachers who hold the certificate. Courses are eight weeks and combine essential mathematics content and research-based best practices for mathematics teaching, with a focus on ambitious and equity-focused mathematics teaching and learning.

For all K-5 Math Endorsement applicants, the following admission criteria apply:
- Level 4 certificate in Early Childhood Education, Middle Grades Math (4-8), Special Education/General Curriculum (P-5), or other Special Education fields with a core academic content concentration in math.
- A minimum of one year of certified teaching experience
- A minimum grade of C in at least two math content courses in undergraduate or graduate school.

The ESOL endorsement sequence may be completed in a non-degree status or as part of the M.Ed. in Elementary Education, M.Ed. in Middle Grades Education, or M.Ed. in Secondary Education.

The Gifted Endorsement is available for teachers who have a valid Level 4 or higher renewable professional teaching certificate in any field. This endorsement will prepare the certified teacher to identify gifted students, design educational programs, and observe relevant policies in counseling and teaching such students.
An individual with the Gifted Endorsement may provide direct instruction to gifted students only in the grade levels and field(s) of the base certificate(s). Direct instruction may be provided in resource classes, advanced content classes, and/or cluster group classes. Individuals with the Gifted Endorsement are also in-field to serve as a resource teacher for indirect gifted education services in any content area for grades P-12.

The Tift College of Education offers an endorsement in Online Teaching for teachers who have a valid level four (4) or higher Five-Year Induction certificate, Professional certificate, or Permit. An individual with the Online Teaching Endorsement has strengthened and enhanced competency levels to teach online courses in the content areas and grade levels of their base certificate(s).

Successful completion of the three-course EDPL sequence will lead to eligibility for the Personalized Learning Endorsement.

The Reading Endorsement is available to any teacher holding a valid Level 4 teaching certificate in any field. Successful completion of the three-course sequence of study will lead to eligibility for an in-field endorsement in reading and will provide the certified teacher with strengthened and enhanced competencies for teaching reading and literacy at the prerequisite certification level.

The STEM Endorsement is available for certified teachers who hold a valid Level 4 teaching certificate. Successful completion of the three-course sequence and a minimum grade of B will lead to eligibility for an in-field STEM Endorsement. Candidates who complete this program will achieve a deeper understanding of applied STEM processes and engage in field experience to incorporate emerging science, technology, engineering, and math-centered content in the classroom.

- Georgia Induction Certification or Certificate of Eligibility – Applicants must provide a copy of their Georgia Level 4 or higher certificate of eligibility or induction certificate.
- Principal Recommendation Form – Applicants must provide a Statement of Understanding and Agreement form. Form must be signed and dated by candidate and principal.
Elementary Education Applicants
- Clear Renewable Certificate for grades P-5 or Special Education/General Curriculum (P-5)
- Minimum of one year of certified teaching experience
- Minimum grade of C in at least two STEM courses in undergraduate or graduate school
Middle Grades Education Applicants
- Clear Renewable Certificate for grades 4-8 in a STEM field
- Minimum of one year of certified teaching experience in a STEM field
Secondary Education Applicants
- Clear Renewable Certificate for grades 6-12 in a STEM field
- Minimum of one year of certified teaching experience in a STEM field

An endorsement in Teacher Leadership is for teachers who have a valid Level 4 or higher renewable professional teaching certificate in any field and are enrolled in the Teacher Leadership Ed. S. program. An individual with the Teacher Leader Endorsement is considered infield, and able to provide direct instruction to students in grades P-12.
Successful completion of the three-course sequence will lead to eligibility for a Teacher Leader endorsement.

- College transcript(s) – All official transcript(s) from colleges attended. Former and current Mercer University students need not request a Mercer University transcript. Applicants may submit transcripts digitally to MercerEducation@mercer.edu.

- Follow the instructions for ordering your official transcript.
