Mercer University’s Specialist in Education (Ed.S.) in Middle Grades Education, The Accomplished Teacher degree is a 31-hour program that focuses on enhancing the knowledge and skills of educators in grades 4 through 8. This specialist degree will prepare you to advance in your career in education, and will equip you with the necessary skills and experience for success.
Through this program, individuals will gain a greater depth of knowledge relating to issues of diversity, curriculum assessment and development, theory and research, and pedagogy. Students will also develop written and oral communication skills, which will prepare them to advocate more effectively for young children, their families, and the community.
Mercer University’s The Accomplished Teacher, Specialist in Education (Ed.S.) degree with concentrations in Elementary Education, Middle Grades Education, Secondary Education, and P-12 Education certificate fields is designed for teachers who are certified at the master’s (T-5) level.
Successful completion of the program will lead to eligibility for an upgrade of the candidate’s teaching certification to a Level 6 certificate by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC). Teachers may earn optional endorsements such as Reading, Math, Science, ESOL, or Coaching. The Accomplished Teacher Ed.S. is a fully online graduate degree program.

Designed for busy and working adults
Students are enrolled two times per year in May and August, and classes meet fully online. Students have the opportunity to schedule in-person meetings with faculty at one of Mercer’s locations or via phone, thus offering students greater flexibility. Online components are completed in Canvas, Mercer’s course management system.
