Ms Cheryl Carter, University Supervisor, Excellence in Field Supervisor Award, 2019

Ms. Cheryl Carter serves as University Supervisor in the Tift College of Education. She received B.S. in Elementary/Special Education from Tuskegee University. She further earned a Master in Supervison and Curriculum from Georgia College & State University and a Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Georgia. Ms Carter began her teaching career in the Hancock County School District in 1981. Two years later she was hired in Jasper County, her home, as teacher and subsequently school principal of Washington Park Elementary and Jasper County Primary School.  In 2003, Ms Carter relocated to Henry County where she served as Principal of Fairview Elementary and Austin Road Middle Schools. With 32 years of experience, including 25 years as Principal, Ms. Carter retired in 2013.  Since retirement she has worked with Mercer University.
