TEACHER EDUCATION PROGRAMS

Graduate StudentEarly Childhood Master of Arts in Teaching

The Early Childhood Education Master of Arts in Teaching is offered on the Atlanta Campus.

The Early Childhood M.A.T. program requires a minimum of 49 semester hours of graduate level education classes and field experiences designed to prepare effective teachers for pre-kindergarten through 5th grade.

Middle Grades Education Master of Arts in Teaching

The Middle Grades Education Master of Arts in Teaching is is offered on the Atlanta Campus.

Middle grades candidates will complete a minimum of 46 semester hours of graduate level education classes and field experiences designed to prepare them to be effective teachers in grades 4-8.

Secondary Education Master of Arts in Teaching

Master of Education in Early Childhood

The Master of Education in Early Childhood is offered on the Atlanta Campus; Henry, Douglas, Macon, Eastman, Newnan, and Forsyth Regional Academics Centers.

Each program requires 30 semester hours (10 classes) of graduate credit designed to enhance the knowledge and skills of certified teachers while also providing teachers with the opportunity to upgrade their teaching certificate to a master's level (T-5).

Reading Specialist Masters of Education

The Reading Specialist Masters of Education is offered on the Atlanta Campus.

Each program requires 30 semester hours (10 classes) of graduate credit designed to enhance the knowledge and skills of certified teachers while also providing teachers with the opportunity to upgrade their teaching certificate to a master's level (T-5).

Teacher Leadership Specialist in Education

The Teacher Leadership Specialist in Education is offered on the Atlanta Campus and the Henry County Regional Academics Center.

This degree is designed for teachers who are certified at the master's level and who want to develop their skills as teacher leaders within their grade levels and schools. This degree upgrades a valid teaching certificate to a T-6 level.

Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction - A Hybrid Approach

The Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction is offered on the Atlanta and Macon-Savannah campuses. Cohorts are admitted once a year and begin classes in the summer term (May). The deadline for submitting your completed application packet is Atlanta--February 1 and Macon-Savannah--March 15.

We have a limited number of openings in the Atlanta and Macon-Savannah cohort groups. Once the enrollment limit has been reached, applications will be frozen and put on hold for the next academic year.

The Ed.S. degree in P-12 School Leadership is offered on the Macon, Atlanta, and Savannah Campuses, and at the Henry County Regional Academic Center.

Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Leadership (Higher Education or P-12 School Leadership)

Two separate tracks of the Ph.D. degree in Educational Leadership are offered on the Macon and Atlanta Campuses: P-12 School Leadership or Higher Education Leadership.
